We've been using our Arris SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 modem since April with little (if any) problems, and yet, I've never yet been able to successfully achieve the proper port forwarding to our 'remote access security server' thru this modem and via our ASUS RT-N66R gigabit/wifi router. I don't believe I've ever had this much of an issue with virtually any other device or combination of devices, until now. It should be a simple port forwarding rule within the ASUS router, right? As I might understand it, the SB6190 is pretty much 'transparent' to external traffic types, passing the traffic thru the modem and delivering any/or all traffic on any port or protocol to the router, where the port forwarding rule then provides the 'path' to the static address of the 'server'... That is, as I understand this... So I'm a little boggled why this simply will not work. The SB6190 has no firewall, per se (as I understand it), and the RT-N66R router is configured for 'virtual server/port forwarding' to the correct static LAN address via the correct ports and protocols. But as yet I just cannot make this work. Anyone out there have any 'insider info' or suggestions on how I've messed this up for the past 4 months? I would certainly like to get my 'remote access' functional again...
