SB6141 not connecting to network

I recently had an issue with my SB6141. It appeared to be working, but it didn't appear to affiliate and register with the CMTS. The cable company diagnosed the problem as a failed cable modem (it wasn't) I rented a Technicolor modem from them until I could afford a SB6190. The 6190 uses the same 12V 1A switched mode power supply, so I tried to reuse it. It's ran through zip ties for cable management so I didn't feel like digging the old one out. When I went to power the SB6190 on, the exact same thing happened. It lit up and seemed to refuse to affiliate just like the 6190. I checked the power output of the SMPS and it was putting out 12.12 volts under no load, but it was unable to produce the current required by the 6141 or the 6190. The power supply went bad. I threw out a perfectly good SB6141 over what was a bad power brick. I even remembered checking the brick with a Fluke 117 before I threw it out and the voltage was perfect. Running the power supply across a 12 Ω resistor, the voltage dropped to 8. Bad SMPS brick Just wanted to let everyone know that before you throw out a perfectly good modem, try it with another known working power supply. It probably isn't the modem. Merry Christmas everyone.
