Greetings everyone. I've been concerned lately due to a number of 5/6 entries in my SB6141's logs. Also, I am not sure if the firmware is up to date. If someone could take a look, I would appreciate it. Bonjour / Airprint

Hello!! Trying to find a modem that is compatible with Airprint. Arris chat was unable to assist and directed me to MSO. Wondering if you guys had any information on if Bonjour / Airprint has any kind of compatibility issues with the 1672 / 1682 / 1670 series gateway modems. When printer is connected to internal gateway it cannot be discovered by devices using airprint. Once we bridge the arris and add a third party router to the mix it is visible. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Just need to know if there are any SIP ALG issues with the 6190? And if so, what can I do to "turn them off". I'm having VoIP problems and SIP ALG is always a problem. I have it off in the router, just checking if anything on the 6190. SB6190 on Comcast 125/12. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Arris SB6183 vs Motorola MB7420

Hi! I wanted to share some research I found since I was looking for a new cable modem. You may be wondering what is the difference between the SB6183 and the MB7420. They are both 16X4 and both have a 2 year parts and labor warranty. So...how are they different? They should function almost exactly the same except it seems that the latest chipset in the SB6183 is a Broadcom BCM3383 which is an older chipset while the MB7420 has a newer Broadcom BCM3384 chipset. Actual usage may not differ noticeably but if you want the latest then get the Motorola MB7420. I had read in another place that the earlier SB6183 got upgraded to a newer chipset (BCM3383) then it used to have and that resulted in a little better performance in the RF section so every little bit helps. I also noticed that there is a very healthy competition going on between Texas Instruments and Broadcom in this field. Some of the other Arris SBxxxx use the TI chipset. Both the Broadcom and the TI chipsets seem very close in performance and longevity so just know that there have been more than one SB6183 released (the difference being the chipsets). The MB7420 is quite new so it may not have had more than one version released so far. It is unknown if the differences are marked by version numbers on the outside or not. Best regards and best hunting! EDIT: As of today the Motorola is $10.00 less at Newegg.

DOCSIS 3.1 models announced today, expected availability sometime in 2016. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/arris-unveils-next-generation-docsis-31-modems-300157703.html Touchstone CM8200 - This ultra-fast DOCSIS 3.1 modem delivers unprecedented data rates of more than 5 Gbps downstream and 2 Gbps upstream. Switchable filters with full 204MHz upstream and 1218MHz downstream support reliable gigabit performance, while reducing interference in the home network. SURFboard® SB8200 Cable Modem - This modem offers the same DOCSIS 3.1 performance and features as the CM8200, but is intended for retail customers, who can take advantage of its 32x8 QAM channel bonding capabilities on DOCSIS 3.0 cable systems.http://www.multichannel.com/news/cable-tv-conventions/arris-launches-docsis-31-modems/394450 Arris declined to comment on which silicon provider is powering its new line of D3.1 CPE gear. Broadcom, Intel and STMicroelectronics are among those that are developing D3.1 modem chipsets. ... In a recent interview, Arris director of product management Steve Krapp said the E6000 is software-upgradable to D3.1 in the downstream direction, adding that the vendor plans to introduce a new line card in 2016 that will support a D3.1-based upstream.Edit: now on the front page as well https://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Arris-Releases-its-First-DOCSIS-31-Modem-135352

Should I upgrade my current 4x4 to another multichannel docsis 3.0?

Greetings, I have Comcast internet blast 100mbps and my download speed is around 11MBps or 88 mbps with my several years old docsis 3.0 Surfboard SB6120 which is still in working condition. I receive a notification from Comcast which invite me to upgrade to another docsis 3.0 as they no longer support the 6120. Should I upgrade to a SB6183 or 6190 or any other multichannel docsis 3.0 and will I see any benefits from this upgrade? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I have an Arris Vap3400 that I need a username & password for. I believe it was used with Hotwire Fusion. I'm able to get to the login page(192.168.1.100) but can't login. I'd like to use it as a WAP. No plans to use it for video.

What is going on with my 6190 modem?

I have had to reboot everything a couple of times the last several days due to loss of connectivity. Arris 6190/Zoom router. One time it appears Comcast changed things up and I got a new IP and Gateway. The other times out of the blue. I just tried to log in to the modem and all I get is this.... [att=1] Tried it several times. Saving the reboot for later. I still have good connectivity and speeds and posting this while still connected. Lights are normal on the modem but can't check any signals since I can't access the modem gui. I suspect all the levels are fine but just something quirky with modem or modem access through router. And a Line Quality Test shows all is well.

Sb6190 modem suddenly not working

Got home the other day and found out the third light on my modem is now blinking (I believe its the "send" light) and the internet light is not on. I've rebooted a dozen times, called my ISP (Comcast) and had them send out a signal. Turns out they can see my modem is on but they can't see my bandwidth or any other data about it. If its any help, i'm in a dorm and the day I found out it wasn't working was the same day the public router in the main room wasn't working either. Things to note: Connectivity State status is "in progress" and in the notes, "DS Topology Resolution in progress" Boot state "In Progress" as well No upstream bonded channels

SB6183 Bufferbloat higher than SB6141

This isn't a serious post or anything im worried over. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced it on the sb6183. I had a sb6141 for a few years and the tests always had an A for buffer where i consistently had great levels for download and upload. On the SB6183 the main thing i have seen is the upload where it randomly goes anywhere from like 50ms to maxing out red a couple times. Seems to be a model issue i would think? Not a single thing was changed when i switched over after removing the SB6141 and putting in the SB6183 since i went directly here to test out the speeds after activating the modem. If anybody has noticed anything like this let me know The pictures show it pretty well. On the 6141 i avg about 30 and 15 ping. On the 6183 i'm averaging about the same at 30 for download and over 60 for upload. This is consistent after each run

I have a WBM760A/MA 780145 modem. Using seed MPSJKMDHAI does not work in generating a password. Accessing »192.168.100.1/cgi-bin/te ··· port_cgi returns a 401 unauthorized. Attempting to wget router.data returns a 404, file not found. How can I telnet into the modem and access system files? I am trying to locate the password for the advanced configuration page. I get fantastic speeds on my Comcast SB6190, but at least once every hour, it will disconnect very briefly (5-10 seconds) and then reconnect automatically. This is really testing my patience as I work from home and always doing HD video meetings with my team. My modem is on the N version firmware.

How to connect computer directly to cable modem, w/o rebooting?

In order to diagnose my off-and-on again, spotty home internet connection, I disconnect my cable modem from the Airport Extreme router and then connect my Macbook Air to it, so I can determine if the in-and-out connectivity problems is due to my router or Charter Internet. (I've already replaced my cable modem and my router, so I'm pretty certain it's the darn Charter Internet and I'm just trying to prove it). The problem is that when the Internet gets spotty, it goes in and out for a short time. Sometimes ten minutes, sometimes an hour. And when I connect my Macbook to the cable modem, I have to reboot both my Macbook and the cable modem to make them talk to each other. But by the time that's done, 5-10 minutes later, the intermittent problems may have stopped on their own. I don't have any way of knowing if they stopped on their own or if rebooting the modem helped. It's very frustrating. So, is there any way to quickly disconnect the router from the cable modem, connect to my Macbook, and get them to talk without having to reboot the modem or my Macbook? That would really help me. SB6190 - any limitations to port forwarding?

$

We've been using our Arris SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 modem since April with little (if any) problems, and yet, I've never yet been able to successfully achieve the proper port forwarding to our 'remote access security server' thru this modem and via our ASUS RT-N66R gigabit/wifi router. I don't believe I've ever had this much of an issue with virtually any other device or combination of devices, until now. It should be a simple port forwarding rule within the ASUS router, right? As I might understand it, the SB6190 is pretty much 'transparent' to external traffic types, passing the traffic thru the modem and delivering any/or all traffic on any port or protocol to the router, where the port forwarding rule then provides the 'path' to the static address of the 'server'... That is, as I understand this... So I'm a little boggled why this simply will not work. The SB6190 has no firewall, per se (as I understand it), and the RT-N66R router is configured for 'virtual server/port forwarding' to the correct static LAN address via the correct ports and protocols. But as yet I just cannot make this work. Anyone out there have any 'insider info' or suggestions on how I've messed this up for the past 4 months? I would certainly like to get my 'remote access' functional again...
