I just purchased a new SB8200 from Best Buy. After I installed it I realized it’s a version 3, but I understand they are on version 7! This thing must have been sitting on a dusty shelf for years. Should I be concerned in any way of the old version? Like most on this forum I want the best experience possible so would I gain better connectivity, reliability or any advantage from exchanging it for a newer version?
Also, the lights won’t turn blue. Only green. I’ve had my ISP check the lines multiple times for something else, so I’m confident the path is clean. The last guy didn’t really believe it could be running in DOCSIS 3.0, he said there would be major issues. So he assured me it’s utilizing DOCSIS 3.1. The throughput and latency is quite good. (Gigabit) 945/115 at the router. I do see the OFDM/A channels within the stats for up/downstream. Is that enough to confirm it’s using 3.1? Again, I want the best possible experience and don’t want to leave the latest tech on the table. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I can share my stats if it helps. Thanks.
